School and Childcare Cleaning Services in Australia

Children touch everything at a height adults never look at, so a childcare room needs cleaning from the floor up. Long day care, preschools, outside school hours care and schools, in Darwin, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Tasmania.

We clean in the evening after the last child leaves, until 10pm, or from 6am before a later opening. Every visit is logged room by room with photos, and we quote after a site inspection.

What does cleaning a childcare centre have to account for?

Children touch everything low down and put things in their mouths. The scope has to follow them.

So the scope runs low rather than high: skirting, door edges, chair legs, table undersides and the bottom half of every wall. An office cleaner tends to work from the waist up out of habit.

The physical environment is part of what your service is rated on, so cleaning is more than housekeeping here. A dated record of what was cleaned helps when someone asks.

Some work sits outside our scope. Cleaning up bodily fluids during the day is educator work under your own procedure, and food preparation and bottle making are staff duties. Playground equipment safety inspection is a specialist audit, not a cleaning task.

For clinic rooms on the same site, see medical centre cleaning. For administration buildings, see office cleaning.

When does a centre get cleaned?

Seven days, 6am to 10pm, while rooms are empty.

Evening, after close

The crew starts once the last child leaves and finishes by 10pm. The usual pattern for long day care.

Early morning, before opening

From 6am, for schools and services that open later. Everything is packed away before the first educator arrives.

Term breaks and periodic

Deeper work in school holidays and closure periods, when rooms can be emptied properly.

How does our cleaning support your quality file?

Not just a tidy room, but a routine with something written down behind it.

Nappy change and bathrooms

  • Change tables cleaned
  • Child-height toilets and basins
  • Steps, rails and splashbacks

Why do centres change cleaners?

Three things that surface the moment somebody looks properly.

Cleaning logged against each room

You get a dated, room-by-room record with photographs after every visit. It goes into your quality improvement file, where it needs to be when someone asks at short notice.

Cleaning that runs low, not high

Children live between the floor and about a metre up, where the door edges, chair legs and bottom shelves are. Our room schedules start at floor level and work up.

Nothing left out where a child can reach it

Chemicals, cords, cloths and buckets become hazards the moment a room opens with them still in it. Every product is put away before we leave, and the crew does a final check at child eye level.

Centres rarely change cleaners over a dusty floor. They change when nobody can show what was cleaned and when.

What backs a crew working where children play?

Low-odour products

Rooms ready first thing.

Damage and mould raised before children return.

Room-by-room reports

Dated, with photos.

$10 million public liability

Insurance cover in place for work on your premises.

A Shining Services cleaner working through a hotel corridor after hours

Rooms, nappy change areas, kitchen and outdoor spaces.

Room schedule and quote

Task list per room with frequencies, quoted against it.

Setup

Keys, alarm codes and the SDS pack.

What deeper work does a centre need?

Booked into term breaks and closure periods when rooms can be emptied.

Toy and resource cleaning

Rotating cycle, or a full pass during closure.

Extra visits during illness

Additional visits during a gastro or hand, foot and mouth outbreak, quoted when you need them.

What do directors ask before they change contractor?

Do you clean while children are present?

No. The full clean runs after close, until 10pm, or from 6am before a later opening, when rooms are empty. Cleaning up spills and bodily fluids during the day is educator work under your own procedure.

What happens during a gastro or hand, foot and mouth outbreak?

We can add visits for the duration, with more time on high-touch surfaces, nappy change areas and shared resources. Tell us as soon as you know.

Do you clean toys and sleep mats?

Yes, though toys are scoped separately because they take time a normal visit does not have. Sleep mats and cot frames sit in the standard room schedule.

Will your records help at an assessment?

They are written for your quality file. You get a dated room-by-room report with photographs after every visit.

How much does childcare cleaning cost?

We quote after a site inspection, because the rooms, nappy change areas and visit frequency all change the job. You get a written room schedule and a fixed price against it.

Do you cover schools and outside school hours care too?

Yes, along with preschools and kindergartens. School sites usually split into classroom, amenity and administration scopes, with heavier work in term breaks.

We stay until it's right

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work. For end of lease cleans, if you're not satisfied and tell us within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean.

Would you like a site inspection and a quote?

Tell us about the service and we will arrange a visit within a few days. No obligation.
