What is a deep clean, and how is it different?

Deep cleaning and spring cleaning are the same job under two names. It is a one-off reset that clears months of build-up, not a visit that repeats.

If you want your place held at a standard week to week, that is house cleaning. If you are handing keys back to an agent, that is end of lease cleaning, priced to their checklist. This page is for the reset in between.

When should you book a spring clean in Darwin?

Down south people spring clean in September because winter has just ended. Up here the year runs on the wet, so the two resets that actually pay off sit either side of it.

Before the wet, September to October

The dry season leaves fine red dust through screens, tracks and fans. Clearing it before the wet starts in November stops it turning into a paste you cannot wipe off.

This is also when it is worth getting seals, tracks and vents clean, while everything is still dry enough to work on.

After the wet, from May

The wet runs November to April, and months of humidity leave mildew on soft surfaces and a musty smell in wardrobes, cupboards and any room kept shut. Surfaces look fine while the smell says otherwise.

This reset goes after closed spaces first, because that is where the wet season actually shows up.

Either window works. Booking both is common for larger homes and for places that sit empty part of the year.

What does a deep clean cover that a regular one does not?

Everything in a standard visit, plus the layer underneath it.

  • Inside cupboards and drawers
  • Behind and under the fridge
  • Rangehood filters soaked
  • Splashback grout scrubbed
  • Bin and pantry shelves

Contact us
  1. Step 01

    Scope agreed first

The written quote lists what is in the reset, so you know before the day what the team will cover.

  2. Step 02

    Everything arrives with them

Machines, products and cloths all come in the van. A deep clean needs more gear than a regular visit and none of it is yours to supply.

  3. Step 03

    Photo report, room by room

Cupboard interiors and behind-appliance work do not show at a glance, so the report is how you see what you paid for.

  4. Step 04

    Checked before we go

The team checks the scope room by room before packing up. Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work.

When is a reset worth the money?

If none of these sound like you, a regular clean is probably the better spend.

The place has gone six months or more

Build-up stops responding to a normal wipe down. A reset gets you back to zero so a regular schedule is worth paying for.

You are moving in, not out

Someone else lived here first. A deep clean covers cupboard interiors and behind appliances before your things go in.

The wet has just finished

Surfaces look fine and the house still smells closed in. That is mildew in soft furnishings and shut rooms, and it needs a reset rather than a wipe.

Family or guests are coming

Dry season is visitor season in Darwin. One reset before the first arrival beats trying to catch up between them.

A deep clean is what makes a regular clean worth paying for.

What do people ask before booking a deep clean?

What is the difference between a deep clean and a regular house clean?

A regular clean holds a standard that is already there. A deep clean goes after what has built up underneath it: inside cupboards, behind and under appliances, skirtings, door tracks, exhaust fans and light fittings. If the place has slipped, start with one before a regular schedule.

When should I book a spring clean in Darwin?

Darwin does not really get a spring. The wet runs November to April, so the two useful windows are September to October before it arrives, and May once it has passed.

Will a deep clean fix the musty smell after the wet?

Usually, yes. That smell is mildew on soft surfaces and in closed spaces, so we work through wardrobes, cupboard interiors, skirtings and the backs of shut rooms. If it returns within weeks, something is still holding moisture and needs a look rather than another clean.

Do you clean inside cupboards and behind appliances?

Yes, both are standard on a deep clean and neither is standard on a maintenance visit. We pull out what can safely be moved, clean behind it and put it back.

How long does it take?

Longer than a regular visit, and it depends on build-up rather than floor area. We quote on scope once you tell us the size of the place and how long it has been.

Do I need a deep clean before starting a regular schedule?

If the place has gone six months or more without a professional visit, yes. A maintenance clean is priced to hold a standard, not to catch one up, so starting there just means paying for extra time every visit.

What else do we clean in Darwin?

Most customers book more than one. Same crews, same standards, one invoice.
