Who is responsible for a clean centre?

Under the national rules for education and care services, the duty to keep the premises, furniture and equipment safe, clean and in good repair sits with the approved provider, not the cleaner.

That is why the evidence matters. A cleaner who turns up is useful, but a schedule and a signed log you can produce on the day is what protects the service.

Schools write their own cleaning scope, so a Darwin school contract is built around the site rather than pulled off a shelf.

What does an assessor actually ask to see?

A director is not buying tidy rooms. They are buying something they can hand an authorised officer without writing it that morning.

The schedule is evidence

An authorised officer may ask how toys and equipment are washed and how often bedding, dress ups and cushion covers are laundered. A written schedule with a frequency on every line answers that, and we supply it.

Two quality elements carry the cleaning

Health practices and procedures, and the upkeep of premises, furniture and equipment. Those are the lines your rating moves on for cleaning.

A signed log, every clean

Dated and signed after each visit, so you can show what was done and when without reconstructing it.

What is in a clean?

Routine cleaning every day you need it, and again whenever surfaces are visibly dirty. Everything below carries a frequency on the schedule.

Learning areas

  • Floors, tables and chairs
  • Shelving, whiteboards and door touch points
  • Staff rooms and front office
  • Bins emptied and relined

Toilets and nappy change

  • Child height toilets and basins
  • Change mats and benches
  • Nappy bins and sanitary units
  • Soap, paper towel and liners restocked

Sleep rooms and toys

  • Cots, mats and stretcher beds
  • Linen bagged for laundering
  • Hard toys washed on a set rotation
  • Walls and ceilings checked for mould

Outdoor and periodic

  • Play equipment wiped down
  • Pressure washing to paths and hardstand
  • Carpet steam cleaning
  • Kitchen deep cleans

Body fluid spills are cleaned with gloves and paper towel, then detergent and warm water, then disinfectant, in that order. Our crews keep separate cloths and mops for toilets, nappy change and food areas, and we tell you that is our method rather than imply it is the law.

How does a contract run?

Four steps, and the paperwork arrives before the first clean, not after the first audit.

Contact us
  1. Step 01

    Walk the site

Room by room with your director or business manager. We count wet areas, sleep rooms, toilets and outdoor surfaces, and ask what the last assessment picked up.

  2. Step 02

    Schedule and paperwork

A written cleaning schedule with a frequency on every line, plus safety data sheets for every product we bring.

  3. Step 03

    Cleans outside session times

Before opening from 6am or after close until 10pm, signed in and out to your process.

  4. Step 04

A signed log you can produce

Dated and signed after every clean, with a photo report. Written so it can go straight in front of an authorised officer.

Why does the summer break matter most here?

Because the Territory's longest school holiday lands in the middle of the wet, which is the opposite of how it works down south.

The long break runs from mid December to late January, inside the wet season. That is the one window with no children on site, and it is also when humidity and rainfall peak.

Book the deep clean into it and the mould work happens while the building is empty. Leave it to the mid year break and you get a dry, comfortable clean at the wrong time of year.

What should you ask before letting a cleaner on site?

Four questions, and we would rather you asked the other quotes the same ones.

  • Which worker checks will the people on your site hold, and will that be confirmed to your nominated supervisor in writing before the first visit?
  • How do they clean split system air conditioners? The unit should be isolated and fully dry before power goes back on
  • What do they wear when pressure washing soil and hardstand in the wet season? Spray from wet soil should not be breathed in, so a mask is sensible
  • What mask do they use on mould? An ordinary paper dust mask is not enough, and a P2 respirator is the usual choice

We can answer all four in writing before the first visit.

What do Darwin customers say about us?

How is school and childcare cleaning priced in Darwin?

No rate card. We walk the site and quote per visit against a written scope, given to you as a weekly figure.

What moves your number

Room count, how many wet areas and nappy change benches, whether there are sleep rooms, the size of the outdoor play area, whether a kitchen is in scope, and frequency.

Term time versus break

Routine cleaning runs to the term calendar. Deep cleans, carpet steam cleaning and pressure washing are quoted as separate jobs and booked into the break, when they can be done properly.

A quote well under the others usually means fewer hours on the same scope. Lay both schedules side by side by frequency and the gap explains itself.

What gets booked in the term break?

Quoted per job, and best done with nobody on site.

Carpet steam cleaning

Classroom and play area carpet, quoted after an inspection. See carpet cleaning

Mould cleaning

Sleep rooms, wet areas and ceilings after the wet. From $315. See mould cleaning

Pressure washing

Paths, hardstand, shade sail posts and play area surrounds. From $195. See pressure washing

Window cleaning

Classroom glass, louvres, tracks and flyscreens. Up to 10 windows from $170. See window cleaning

Tile and grout

Bathroom and wet area floors where mopping has stopped working. $38 per square metre. See tile and grout

Which Darwin areas do we service?

Long day care, preschool, outside school hours care, vacation care and schools. Site outside these? Send the address and we will confirm the same day.

City and coastal

  • Darwin CBD
  • Larrakeyah
  • Stuart Park
  • The Gardens
  • Fannie Bay
  • Parap
  • Cullen Bay
  • Nightcliff

Coastal salt air coats glass and louvre blades, requiring extra care on tracks.

Northern suburbs

  • Casuarina
  • Alawa
  • Wagaman
  • Leanyer
  • Karama
  • Malak
  • Marrara
  • Wanguri

High residential rental movement makes bond cleaning very common across these suburbs.

Palmerston and rural

  • Palmerston
  • Berrimah
  • Winnellie
  • Howard Springs
  • Humpty Doo

Larger family blocks and sheds often combine regular cleans with outdoor pressure washing.

What do Darwin directors and business managers ask first?

Do you clean while children are present?

We would rather not, and most centres agree once they see the schedule. Routine work runs before opening from 6am or after close until 10pm, with a mid day service only where you want one.

Who is responsible for keeping the centre clean?

The approved provider. The national rules put the duty to keep premises, furniture and equipment safe, clean and in good repair on the provider, which is why a schedule and signed logs matter.

Will our cleaning schedule help at an assessment and rating visit?

It is one of the things an authorised officer may ask about, alongside how often toys, bedding and dress ups are washed. We supply the schedule and the signed logs as part of the contract.

How much does school and childcare cleaning cost in Darwin?

It is quoted after a site walkthrough, per visit against a written scope, and given to you as a weekly figure. Ask for the scope and the frequency alongside any number you are quoted.

When is the best time for a deep clean?

The summer break from mid December to late January, the only long window with no children on site. It sits inside the wet, so it is when mould work is most needed and easiest to do properly. Book early, because many centres want the same fortnight.

How do you handle a gastro or hand foot and mouth outbreak?

We lift frequency on high touch surfaces, toilets and nappy change areas, and follow the body fluid procedure on every spill. Exclusion is your call, not ours. Outbreak response is quoted as extra work rather than absorbed into the routine visit.

We stay until it's right

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work. For end of lease cleans, if you're not satisfied and tell us within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean.

Ready to book a site walkthrough?

Send the site address, the service type and roughly how many rooms and wet areas. We walk it, write the schedule with a frequency on every line, and send the quote.
