Leather Cleaning and Conditioning in Adelaide

Leather lounge cleaning goes wrong in one step, before anyone starts cleaning: nobody checks what the leather actually is. Pigmented leather takes a proper clean, while aniline can mark from the wrong product in minutes.

So we test first, then clean and condition to suit. Priced per piece, from $45 for a dining chair to $299 for a four seater.

  • Leather type identified and tested before any product goes on
  • Cleaned, then conditioned to put moisture back into the hide
  • Lounges, recliners, dining chairs, office and venue seating

Why does leather need conditioning as well as cleaning?

Leather does not get dirty the way fabric does. It dries out.

Clean the surface, then put moisture back. Skip the second step and you are cleaning a hide that is still drying, which is what cracks it along the seat and arm folds.

We do lounges, recliners, chaises, ottomans and dining chairs, plus office chairs, boardroom seating and venue booths.

Leather furniture only. Fabric is upholstery cleaning and beds are mattress cleaning. Leather repair, such as tears, scuffs and worn or cracked panels, is quoted once we have seen the piece. We do not clean car interiors.

How soon can a leather lounge be booked in?

How quickly can you clean a leather lounge?

A straightforward pigmented lounge can usually be booked once you send the piece count. Aniline and mixed-material lounges need a look at a photo first, so we can plan the testing and the products.

What does a leather clean and condition cover?

Scope is agreed before we start. Anything outside it gets quoted, not assumed.

Identify and test

  • Leather type checked panel by panel
  • Water drop test on a hidden section
  • Finish, wear and existing damage noted
  • Any vinyl or reconstituted panels flagged
  • Method confirmed before we start

Clean

  • Dry soil and grit lifted first
  • pH-balanced leather cleaner, worked as foam
  • Extra time on headrests and armrests
  • Seams, piping and stitch lines by hand
  • Residue wiped back, never left to dry on

Condition

  • Conditioner matched to the leather type
  • Worked in evenly, panel by panel
  • Given time to absorb rather than rushed
  • Buffed back so nothing stays tacky
  • Suppleness restored, not a surface shine

Adelaide extras

  • Sun-side panels checked for drying
  • Salt film handled in beachside homes
  • Summer body oil build-up on headrests
  • Pet claw marks pointed out, not promised away
  • Optional protection cream on request

Conditioning is included in every price. Protection cream is an optional extra quoted on the piece, and leather repair is quoted once we have seen the damage.

How does a leather job run, start to finish?

Four steps, and the testing happens before any product goes on.

Contact us
  1. Step 01

    Send a photo

A clear shot of the lounge and the care tag if it has one. Leather is a job where a photo genuinely helps us quote.

  2. Step 02

    Test on site

We check the type panel by panel and test in a hidden spot. If a piece should not be cleaned wet, you hear it then.

  3. Step 03

    Clean and condition

Foam cleaner worked through the grain, then a conditioner matched to the hide, with extra time where the oils build up.

  4. Step 04

    Walk it with you

We go over the result together, point out anything permanent, and tell you when it is due again.

What does Adelaide's climate do to leather?

Three local conditions shorten the life of a lounge here.

  • Dry summers. Hot, dry air pulls moisture out of a hide. It stiffens, then cracks along the seat and arm folds.
  • Afternoon sun. Aniline leather has no protective topcoat. A lounge in a west-facing window loses colour on one side only, and that is permanent.
  • Sea air. Homes near Glenelg and Henley Beach pick up a salt film that dries the surface further. It needs the right cleaner, not a harder wipe.

What do people get wrong about leather care?

Four things worth knowing before anyone touches your lounge.

Find out what your leather is first

This decides everything else. Put a drop of water on a hidden section and watch it.

If it soaks in within a few seconds and darkens, that is aniline or semi-aniline. If it sits on top as a bead, it is pigmented, and using a pigmented cleaner on aniline can mark it permanently.

One lounge can be two materials

The seat and back panels are often real leather while the outer back and sides are vinyl or reconstituted leather.

They look identical and clean completely differently. We test each section rather than assuming the whole piece is one material.

Baby wipes are doing the damage

Wipes, all-purpose spray and furniture polish all leave residue that builds into a sticky film.

That film holds dirt, so the lounge looks worse the more you wipe it. If yours feels tacky, it needs stripping before anything else.

More conditioner is not better

Too much product leaves the surface tacky and attracts dust.

Once or twice a year suits most Adelaide lounges, with drier rooms at the higher end. Pigmented leather needs it less often than semi-aniline, because the topcoat slows moisture loss.

Leather does not wear out from use. It wears out from drying out.

Why do Adelaide customers choose us for leather?

Leather is the job where the wrong product costs more than the clean.

Published South Australian rates, including GST. Priced per piece, cleaned and conditioned.

Dining chair

$45

Seat and back, cleaned and conditioned.

Armchair or recliner

$100

Single-seat pieces.

Two seater

$205

Cleaned and conditioned throughout.

Three seater

$235

Four seater

$299

Cleaned and conditioned throughout.

Modular, five to six seats

from $375

Confirmed on the layout and piece count.

Conditioning is included in every price above. Protection cream is optional and quoted separately.

What changes a leather cleaning price? Piece count and size first, then leather type and current condition. Aniline takes longer, because the products are gentler and the testing is more careful.

Get an estimated price

Why is conditioning part of every price?

Why is conditioning included rather than an add-on?

Because cleaning without conditioning shortens the life of the hide. Charging for it separately would mean selling you half a job, so it is built into every price above.

Which Adelaide suburbs do we cover for leather cleaning?

Homes, offices and venues across metropolitan Adelaide, the coast and the Hills. Request a free quote and tell us your suburb.

City and inner east

  • Adelaide CBD
  • North Adelaide
  • Kent Town
  • Norwood
  • Unley
  • Burnside
  • Prospect
  • Walkerville

We service everything from CBD apartments to classic bluestone and sandstone villas. Older period homes trap dust on picture rails, high skirting boards, and ceiling roses. We target these exact spots during our visits.

West and coastal

  • Ashford
  • Marleston
  • Glenelg
  • Henley Beach
  • Semaphore
  • West Lakes
  • Port Adelaide

We clean coastal properties and classic brick veneer homes. Salt air blowing off the Gulf leaves a sticky film on glass and jams up window tracks. We dedicate extra time to scrubbing these frames and windows so they slide perfectly.

North, south and the Hills

  • Salisbury
  • Elizabeth
  • Gawler
  • Mawson Lakes
  • Modbury
  • Marion
  • Morphett Vale
  • Noarlunga
  • Stirling
  • Aldgate
  • Mount Barker

We cover the newer estates out on the plains and the older stone properties up in the Hills. Spring pollen hits the Adelaide Hills hard. We recommend booking window and vent cleaning early in the season to keep allergens outside.

What do Adelaide customers ask before a leather clean?

How much does leather lounge cleaning cost in Adelaide?

Priced per piece, including GST. A dining chair is $45, an armchair or recliner $100, a two seater $205, a three seater $235 and a four seater $299. Five to six seat modulars start at $375, and conditioning is included in all of it.

How do I know what type of leather I have?

Put a drop of water on a hidden section. If it soaks in and darkens within seconds, it is aniline or semi-aniline, and if it beads on the surface it is pigmented. We test on site anyway, because the answer changes the products we use.

Will cleaning remove the dark patches on the headrest?

Usually it lifts them a long way. Those patches are body oils from skin and hair, and older build-up on an untreated aniline hide can leave a shadow. We tell you which you have before starting.

Can you fix cracked or peeling leather?

Not with cleaning. Cracking means the hide has dried out past what conditioning can recover, and peeling usually means a reconstituted or coated surface breaking down. Leather repair is a separate service, quoted after we see the piece, and we tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing.

How often should a leather lounge be cleaned and conditioned?

Once or twice a year for most Adelaide homes, since dry summer air stiffens leather sooner. Do not overdo it, because too much conditioner leaves the surface tacky.

Is it safe to use baby wipes or furniture polish on leather?

No. Both leave a residue that builds into a sticky film and traps dirt. If your lounge feels tacky, that build-up has to be stripped before a proper clean.

Can you clean office chairs and venue seating?

Yes: leather office chairs, boardroom seating, reception lounges and restaurant booths. Commercial pieces are priced per piece the same way, and we can book early morning or evening between 6am and 10pm so the space stays usable.

How long before we can sit on it again?

A few hours in a ventilated room, because the conditioner needs time to absorb. Book a morning slot if you want the lounge back in use that evening.

We stay until it's right

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work. For end of lease cleans, if you're not satisfied and tell us within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean.
