What is pressure washing, and what is low pressure washing?
High pressure strips built up grime off hard surfaces that can take it. Concrete, pavers, exposed aggregate, brick, carports and pool surrounds.
Low pressure washing does the opposite. A cleaning solution does the work at gentle pressure, for surfaces that force would damage, such as render, painted walls and timber decking.
Most Darwin properties need both, on different surfaces, in the same visit. We decide which surface gets which before the hose comes out.

Why do Darwin surfaces get so much worse than southern ones?
Because the climate does the work. Almost all of the year's rain falls in the wet season, from November to April.
- Concrete and pavers stay damp for weeks at a time through the wet, which is all growth needs
- Humidity stays high through the wet, so shaded surfaces never fully dry between storms
- The soils across the Top End are red, so the dust that settles through the dry is iron rich earth, not grey grit

Not every surface takes high pressure
Concrete and pavers can. Render, paint and soft timber cannot, and a hardware store machine at full pressure is how DIY jobs end in patchy stripped walls.
Render needs a gentle hand
High pressure can lift a render finish. We wash render at low pressure with a wide fan tip rather than a narrow jet.
Pressure alone does not stop regrowth
Blasting growth off the surface leaves part of it behind in the pores, and that part grows back. A cleaning solution that kills it lasts longer than force alone.
Where the dirty water goes matters
Wash water should not run into a stormwater drain. We direct runoff to garden and soakage areas rather than the kerb.

What do people ask before booking a pressure clean?

Will high pressure damage my render or paint?
It can, which is why we do not use it on either. Render and painted walls get a low pressure wash with a cleaning solution, and high pressure is kept for concrete, pavers and brick.
Do you clean roofs, gutters or solar panels?
Yes. Roofs get a soft wash at low pressure rather than a high pressure jet, and gutters and solar panels can go on the same visit. All three are quoted once we have seen the property.
Will the mould and algae just grow back?
Some of it will, because the Darwin wet season brings the same conditions back every year. A wash that kills the growth lasts longer than pressure that only strips the visible layer off.
Do you use my water and my power?
Yes. We need an outdoor tap and a power point on the property, so please check both are working before we arrive.
Will oil stains come out of my concrete?
Usually they fade rather than vanish. Fresh oil lifts well, while oil that has soaked into the concrete over years comes back much lighter but can still be visible. We tell you which one you have before we quote.
How often should this be done in Darwin?
Once a year after the wet suits most properties. Coastal homes may need metal fencing and walls washed more often because of the salt.
Do I need to be home?
No, as long as we can reach the areas being cleaned. The photo report lands afterwards so you can see exactly what was done.
