Rug Cleaning in Adelaide

Rug cleaning in Adelaide starts where your vacuum gives up: flat pile, pet marks and grit worked into the base. The colour goes dull long before the rug looks dirty.

We test the dyes before anything wet touches it, and that decides whether your rug takes low-moisture cleaning or gentle extraction. Wool, Persian, flat-weave and synthetic, in homes, apartments and businesses.

  • Low-moisture or gentle extraction, matched to your rug fibre
  • Colour-fastness tested so dyes do not run or bleed
  • Cleaned on site, or collected, washed, dried and returned

How do we clean rugs in Adelaide homes and businesses?

A rug is not a small piece of carpet. It has its own fibre, its own backing, finished edges and often a fringe.

We clean area rugs, wool, hand-knotted Persian and Oriental, flat-weaves and modern synthetics. Rugs are cleaned on site, or collected, washed off site, dried and returned, and every one is tested before anything wet goes near it.

Both faces hold soil, and the construction decides how much moisture it can take. That is why the method is chosen per rug, not per job.

We clean rugs. We do not re-dye, rebuild fringes or restore antiques. Wall-to-wall flooring is carpet cleaning, and sofas are upholstery cleaning.

When do people book a rug clean?

Pick a timing that fits your household, your rental inspection or your trading hours.

Seasonal refresh at home

Booked once or twice a year for busy living areas. Clears the fine dust, food crumbs and pet hair that regular vacuuming leaves behind.

Before a rental inspection

Scheduled before your final walkthrough, so the area rugs match the rest of the clean.

Reception and showroom rugs

Booked before you open or after you close, any time between 6am and 10pm, for offices, shops and hotels. Visitor areas stay smart without disrupting trade.

What is covered in every rug clean?

Scope is agreed before we start. Anything outside it is quoted, not assumed.

Pre-cleaning inspection

  • Fibre identified, wool through to viscose
  • Dye stability tested on every colour
  • Backing checked for glue or rubber failure
  • Existing wear and fraying noted with you
  • Method and moisture level set

Washing and dirt extraction

  • Dry grit vacuumed out of the pile first
  • Pre-treatment on the traffic lanes
  • Spot work on coffee, wine and food
  • Enzyme treatment on pet urine
  • Controlled extraction passes

Fringe and edge detailing

  • Fringes brushed clear of dust and hair
  • Tassels hand-cleaned with low-moisture foam
  • Edge binding checked for loose threads
  • Pile groomed in its natural lay
  • Deodoriser through the treated area

Adelaide extras

  • Summer dust flushed from entry rugs
  • Beach sand pulled from the weave
  • Winter mud lifted from hallway runners
  • Clay soil treated at patio doors
  • Pads under furniture legs while it dries

Grit falls through the pile and settles against the backing, which is why a rug can look fine from above and still release a surprising amount once vacuuming starts. Every footstep grinds that grit against the yarn.

How does a rug clean run?

Four steps that protect the fibre and keep drying steady.

Contact us
  1. Step 01

    Inspection and fibre testing

On site, we identify the fibre, check the backing and test each dye colour on a hidden section.

  2. Step 02

    Pre-treatment and spot care

Targeted solutions go on traffic lanes, food spots and pet accident areas to loosen dried dirt from the yarn.

  3. Step 03

    Extraction and fringe detailing

We wash the pile with controlled water and strong suction, and clean fringes and woven edges by hand.

  4. Step 04

    Walkthrough

We go over the rug with you before we leave and point out anything that would not lift. Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work.

What does Adelaide put into a rug?

Rugs sit where the outdoors comes in. Three conditions do the damage.

  • Summer dust. Fine dust blown in on hot, dry days drops through the pile and settles against the backing, where a vacuum does not reach.
  • Winter grit. Wet shoes track garden soil onto entry rugs and hallway runners, matting the pile flat as it dries.
  • Hills and coast. Foothill homes carry leaf litter and wet clay, and beachside homes carry sand that sinks through a loose weave.

What should you check before booking a rug clean?

Read this before you hand a rug to anyone, us included.

Why can't a rug be cleaned like carpet?

Fitted carpet is usually a durable fibre stretched over underlay. A rug is a separate item with its own backing, finished edges and often a fringe.

Wool, cotton and viscose turn up in rugs far more often, along with vegetable and acid dyes. A carpet wand at full heat can bleed those dyes, warp the backing or shrink the border, so rugs get less water and more hand work.

Will you test the dyes first?

Yes, and it decides everything. Older and hand-dyed rugs can carry dye that moves the moment it meets warm water.

Once a red runs into a pale field, it does not come back. We press a white cloth to a hidden section after applying solution, and colour on the cloth means we switch to low moisture.

What happens to the fringe?

Fringes grey first because they sit on the floor and catch everything, and they are also the easiest part to damage.

A vacuum head can catch the threads and tear the binding, so we clean fringes with low-moisture foam and brush them by hand. Frayed fringes are pointed out before we start.

What about the floor underneath?

Most rugs sit on boards, laminate or tile. Soak a rug in place and the water goes through to the floor, where timber can cup and swell.

We lay a moisture barrier under the rug before anything wet starts, then extract hard rather than leaving it to evaporate.

Vacuuming keeps the surface tidy. Washing matched to the fibre protects the colours, the fringe and the yarn.

Which Adelaide suburbs do we cover for rug cleaning?

We clean area rugs on site, or collect them for an off-site wash, from houses, apartments, rentals, offices, showrooms and hospitality venues. Call 0450 962 844 with the rug dimensions and your suburb.

City and inner east 8

  • Adelaide CBD
  • North Adelaide
  • Kent Town
  • Norwood
  • Unley
  • Burnside
  • Prospect
  • Walkerville

We service everything from CBD apartments to classic bluestone and sandstone villas. Older period homes trap dust on picture rails, high skirting boards, and ceiling roses. We target these exact spots during our visits.

West and coastal 7

  • Ashford
  • Marleston
  • Glenelg
  • Henley Beach
  • Semaphore
  • West Lakes
  • Port Adelaide

We clean coastal properties and classic brick veneer homes. Salt air blowing off the Gulf leaves a sticky film on glass and jams up window tracks. We dedicate extra time to scrubbing these frames and windows so they slide perfectly.

North, south and the Hills 11

  • Salisbury
  • Elizabeth
  • Gawler
  • Mawson Lakes
  • Modbury
  • Marion
  • Morphett Vale
  • Noarlunga
  • Stirling
  • Aldgate
  • Mount Barker

We cover the newer estates out on the plains and the older stone properties up in the Hills. Spring pollen hits the Adelaide Hills hard. We recommend booking window and vent cleaning early in the season to keep allergens outside.

What do Adelaide customers ask before a rug clean?

How much does rug cleaning cost in Adelaide?

Every rug is quoted on its size, fibre and how stained it is, because rugs need their own fibre and dye checks. Send us the measurements and a photo for a written quote before work begins.

Can you clean wool rugs safely on site?

Yes. Wool needs neutral pH solutions and controlled water temperature to avoid shrinkage and browning. We test it on site, pre-spray gently and extract hard so the pile dries clean and soft.

Can Persian and Oriental rugs be professionally cleaned?

Yes. We clean them on site with controlled low-moisture methods, after testing every dyed section for colour-fastness.

Do you take rugs away to wash?

Yes. A rug that needs a full wash, or cannot be dried safely where it lies, is collected, washed and dried off site, then returned. Others are cleaned on site, and we tell you which suits your rug when we quote.

Can rug colours bleed during cleaning?

Rugs with unstable vegetable or acid dyes can bleed with harsh chemicals or too much hot water. We test a hidden corner first, and if any dye moves we switch to a low-moisture method.

How long does a cleaned rug take to dry?

Most rugs cleaned on site dry within three to five hours with good ventilation. We extract hard and groom the pile upright so it dries through, not just on top.

Can professional rug cleaning remove pet stains?

Most pet urine and food stains lift if they are treated reasonably soon. Enzyme treatments break down the urine before extraction, but a stain that has changed the dye may leave a faint mark.

Can you clean rug fringes and tassels?

Yes. We clean fringes by hand with low-moisture foam and soft brushes, lifting the grey without loosening the warp threads.

We stay until it's right

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work. For end of lease cleans, if you're not satisfied and tell us within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean.
